Job summary

The Recruitment Crowd are currently recruiting on behalf of our well known client based in Newcastle. We are looking for experienced HGV Class 1 Drivers (CAT C+E) to join the team.

Shifts: Monday to Friday. Hours: 09:00am start. Pay Rate: £15.28 per hour PAYE rising to £16.36 after 12 weeks. Location: Newcastle, NE37. Job Type: Ongoing.

Role involves collections and deliveries with up to 20 stops, manual handling, loading/unloading parcels, and working with dispatch to ensure timely operations.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence with Class 1 entitlement (category C+E).
• At least 12 months proven experience driving the relevant vehicle.
• Excellent communication skills.
• A safety-first mindset.

Responsibilities

• Collections and deliveries - up to 20 stops max.
• Manual handling required for loading/unloading parcels at depots and customer locations.
• Collaborate with a team to ensure efficient operations and timely collections/deliveries.
• Operate devices and company software to update delivery status and communicate with the depot.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections and ensure vehicle roadworthiness.
• Adhere to traffic laws, regulations, and company policies to maintain safety.
• Communicate with dispatch and logistics teams to ensure timely deliveries and pickups.

Requirements:

Full UK driving licence with Class 1 entitlement (category C+E).

Have at least 12 months of proven experience driving the relevant vehicle.

Valid and in date DCPC and Digital Tachograph card.

No more than 6 points on licence (minor offences only).

Full understanding of WTD legislation.

Excellent communication skills.

A safety-first mindset.
