Job summary

Pertemps Plymouth is seeking an experience HGV Driver (Class 2) for a temp-to-perm opportunity. The role operates on late shifts (1pm starts) Monday to Friday with a competitive rate of £15.34 per hour plus shift premiums.

You will be responsible for safe driving, vehicle checks, loading duties, and maintaining professional customer relations. The ideal candidate holds a Full Class 2 licence, is aged 21+, and brings strong safety awareness and customer service skills.

Qualifications

• Full Class 2 (Category C) driving licence.
• Aged 21 or over (insurance requirement).
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Basic numeracy and literacy.

• Strong safety awareness.

Responsibilities

• Drive safely and maintain road safety at all times.
• Carry out daily vehicle safety checks and report faults promptly.
• Keep vehicle clean and well-presented, inside and out.
• Ensure fuel for the route is sufficient and load orders correctly.
• Build positive customer relationships and handle returns or delays.
• Assist with warehouse or operational duties as required and follow health & safety rules.

Temp to Perm Opportunity for the Right Candidate

Hours:Late Shifts Monday to Friday 1pm starts

Pay:£15.34 per hour+ shift enhancements for late shifts and other premiums

About the Role

We are currentlyrecruiting on behalf of our clientfor a reliable and professionalClass 2 HGV Driver. This is atemporary to permanent opportunityfor the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive safely and competently at all times, adhering to road traffic regulations
• Carry out daily vehicle safety checks (lights, brakes, coolant, etc.)
• Report any faults, breakdowns, accidents or delays promptly
• Maintain the cleanliness and overall condition of the vehicle (inside and out)
• Ensure sufficient fuel is taken for the day's route
• Maintain security of the vehicle and its contents at all times
• Check drop sheets and ensure all orders are correctly loaded
• Collect returned goods, delivery bins and mail and return them safely to the branch
• Deal with damages or breakages correctly, including following Hazchem procedures where required
• Maintain a smart and professional appearance
• Build and maintain positive customer relationships
• Assist with warehouse or other operational duties as required
• Comply with all Health & Safety requirements

Candidate Requirements

• FullClass 2 (Category C) driving licence
