Job summary

Pertemps is recruiting on behalf of a client for a reliable Class 2 HGV Driver. This temp-to-perm role offers late shifts from Monday to Friday with a 1pm start and an hourly pay rate of £15.34 plus shift enhancements.

You will deliver assembled products and invoices to customers, conduct safety checks, maintain your vehicle, and uphold strong customer relations while following the client’s standards and health & safety guidelines.

Qualifications

• Full Class 2 (Category C) driving licence required.
• Aged 21 or over for insurance purposes.
• Licence points considered on a case-by-case basis.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Basic numeracy and literacy.
• Team-focused with a proactive and reliable approach.
• Strong safety awareness.

Responsibilities

• Drive safely and comply with road traffic regulations.
• Carry out daily vehicle safety checks (lights, brakes, coolant, etc.).
• Report faults, breakdowns, accidents or delays promptly.
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness and condition.
• Ensure adequate fuel for the day’s route.
• Maintain vehicle and cargo security.
• Check drop sheets and correct loading of orders.
• Return goods and bins to the branch safely.
• Follow Hazchem procedures for damages.
• Present a smart and professional appearance.
• Build and maintain positive customer relationships.
• Assist with warehouse or other duties as required.
• Follow Health & Safety requirements.

Temp to Perm Opportunity for the Right Candidate

Hours: Late Shifts Monday to Friday 1pm starts

Pay: £15.34 per hour+ shift enhancements for late shifts and other premiums

About the Role

We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client for a reliable and professional Class 2 HGV Driver. This is a temporary to permanent opportunity for the right candidate.

You will be responsible for the safe, accurate and timely delivery of assembled products and invoices to customers, working in line with the client’s operational and corporate standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive safely and competently at all times, adhering to road traffic regulations
• Carry out daily vehicle safety checks (lights, brakes, coolant, etc.)
• Report any faults, breakdowns, accidents or delays promptly
• Maintain the cleanliness and overall condition of the vehicle (inside and out)
• Ensure sufficient fuel is taken for the day’s route
• Maintain security of the vehicle and its contents at all times
• Check drop sheets and ensure all orders are correctly loaded
• Collect returned goods, delivery bins and mail and return them safely to the branch
• Deal with damages or breakages correctly, including following Hazchem procedures where required
• Maintain a smart and professional appearance
• Build and maintain positive customer relationships
• Assist with warehouse or other operational duties as required
• Comply with all Health & Safety requirements

Candidate Requirements
