Job summary

Veolia UK is seeking a Class 2 HGV Driver to join our Westminster team. You will drive waste collection routes, operate Veolia vehicles and follow safety procedures.

We offer 25 days annual leave, pension, health resources and training, plus volunteer day and financial wellbeing support. Full time, 40 hours per week. Qualifications

  • Full valid driving licence.
  • Previous Class 2 experience.
  • Desirable: Waste experience.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake the removal of waste, bulky items and Sweeper’s sacks from domestic and commercial premises and the Highway.
  • Ensure that containers are returned to the collection point, lids replaced, doors and gates closed.
  • Ensure that any spillage of waste is cleared at the time of collection to leave the site litter free.
  • When entering premises, comply with any site rules and Health & Safety procedures.
  • Drive and operate any vehicle supplied by Veolia, after receiving the relevant training.
  • Comply with all road traffic legislation in relation to your duties including parking restriction, security and weight of loads.
  • At the commencement of each shift and prior to leaving the depot, ensure that the vehicle is in good working condition.
  • At the end of the shift, ensure that the tipper is left empty and that the cab is clean and clear of litter, uniform and personal effects.
  • Report locations of any fly-tipping, graffiti, fly posting damaged/missing litter bins and waste containers.
  • Ensure that all completed work is detailed in an accurate and legible manner on your daily worksheet before handed in to your Foreman or Manager.
  • Perform duties in an efficient and effective manner that will ensure maximum productivity.
  • Maintain a courteous and professional relationship with members of the public, client staff and colleagues

What You’ll be doing
  • Undertake the removal of waste, bulky items and Sweeper’s sacks from domestic and commercial premises and the Highway. Waste may be loose or in bags, bin, wheeled bins, Paladin and Euro-bin containers and any other container
  • Ensure that containers are returned to the collection point, lids replaced, doors and gates closed
  • Ensure that any spillage of waste is cleared at the time of collection to leave the site litter free
  • When entering premises, comply with any site rules and Health & Safety procedures
  • Drive and operate any vehicle supplied by Veolia, after receiving the relevant training.
  • Comply with all road traffic legislation in relation to your duties including parking restriction, security and weight of loads. The Company operates a zero tolerance on overweight vehicle.
  • At the commencement of each shift and prior to leaving the depot, ensure that the vehicle is in good working condition. Complete the appropriate forms (Vehicle Defects books) and report any damages found to your working foreman or Manager.
  • At the end of the shift, ensure that the tipper is left empty and that the cab is clean and clear of litter, uniform and personal effects.
  • Report locations of any fly-tipping, graffiti, fly posting damaged/missing litter bins and waste containers.
  • Ensure that all completed work is detailed in an accurate and legible manner on your daily worksheet before handed in to your Foreman or Manager
  • Perform duties in an efficient and effective manner that will ensure maximum productivity. Ensure that the tasks are completed to schedule. Any discrepancies are to be reported immediately to your Foreman or manager.
  • Maintain a courteous and professional relationship with members of the public, client staff and colleagues
