Job summary

Routes To Work South in Bothwell is hiring two skilled Class 2 HGV Drivers to join our busy transport team. You will be responsible for delivering palletised freight to retail stores, performing safety checks, and maintaining accurate shift paperwork.

We offer a competitive salary (£35,318.40 per year), 48 hours guaranteed per week, paid breaks and a supportive, people-focused work environment. CPC training, pension, and cycle-to-work schemes are also available.

Qualifications

• Proven experience operating Heavy Goods Vehicles.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to maintain timescales and deadlines.
• Concern for vehicle and equipment condition.

Responsibilities

• Deliver palletised freight to retail stores with tail lifts and pallet trucks.
• Complete shift paperwork accurately and on time.
• Perform pre- and post-shift vehicle checks for safety and compliance.
• Report issues or near misses to line manager promptly.
• Secure freight for transit and protect goods quality.
• Aim for on-time deliveries with professional conduct.
• Use route optimisation tech and POD capture to improve efficiency.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

Key Tasks

• Carry out efficient delivery of palletised freight to retail stores, using tail lifts and electric pallet trucks.
• Ensure all work-related paperwork is accurately completed and submitted at the end of each shift.
• Perform thorough vehicle checks before and after every shift to maintain safety and legal compliance.
• Report any non-conformities, issues or near misses promptly to your line manager.
• Secure freight safely for transit to protect goods and maintain quality standards.
• Deliver goods on time, maintaining professionalism and care throughout the journey.
• Use our industry-leading technology for route optimisation and proof-of-delivery capture, making your day smoother and more efficient.

Qualifications/Tickets/Licences Required

• Digital Tacho Card – Required
• Valid Class 2 / Category C Driving Licence – Required
