Job summary

AWD Online is seeking an HGV Class 2 Driver to join our established driving team in Hyde. You will transport stock between depots, and perform deliveries and collections from customers and suppliers.

Responsibilities include vehicle checks, loading/unloading, securing loads, and maintaining accurate paperwork. A 3-month probation applies; full-time hours are 38.5 per week with Mon-Thu 8:00–17:00 and Fri 8:00–15:30, with some variation based on workload.

Qualifications

• HGV Category C / Class 2 driving licence.
• Driver CPC qualification.
• Able to undertake the manual handling required by the role.
• Good attention to detail.
• Desirable forklift licences.
• Experience with pedestrian trolleys or similar equipment.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to road laws, professional driving regulations, tachograph requirements and Driver CPC rules.
• Transport stock between company premises and complete deliveries to and from customers and suppliers.
• Complete vehicle checks, delivery documentation and other required driving records accurately.
• Load and unload vehicles safely using forklift or manual handling as necessary.
• Ensure goods are positioned and secured appropriately for safe transportation.
• Assist with despatch duties when driving work is not required.
• Maintain a clean and tidy working area and follow health and safety requirements.

Job description

HGV Class 2 Driver

A practical driving and logistics role transporting stock between company sites and making customer and supplier deliveries and collections, with responsibility for safe loading, accurate paperwork and professional driving standards.

£15.28 per Hour + Benefits

LOCATION:

WORKING HOURS:

38.5 hours per week. Monday to Thursday, 8am – 5pm with a 1-hour lunch. Friday, 8am – 3:30pm with a 1-hour lunch. Hours may vary according to company workload and assigned routes.

JOB OVERVIEW

This is a great opportunity for an HGV Class 2 Driver to join an established driving team transporting stock safely between depots, customers and suppliers.

Working as an HGV Class 2 Driver you will complete vehicle checks and documentation, secure loads and use appropriate equipment when loading and unloading vehicles.

The HGV Class 2 Driver will also support despatch operations when not driving, maintaining high standards of safety, accuracy and service throughout the working day.

Successful candidates will complete a three‑month probation period.

DUTIES

Your duties as the HGV Class 2 Driver include:

• Professional Driving Compliance: Adhere to road laws, professional driving regulations, tachograph requirements and Driver CPC rules
• Deliveries and Collections: Transport stock between company premises and complete deliveries to and collections from customers and suppliers
• Vehicle Checks and Documentation: Complete vehicle checks, delivery documentation and other required driving records accurately
• Safe Loading and Unloading: Load and unload vehicles safely using forklift trucks, other machinery or manual handling as necessary
• Load Security: Ensure goods are positioned and secured appropriately for safe transportation
• Despatch Support: Assist with wider despatch duties when driving work is not required
• Health and Safety: Maintain a clean and tidy working area and follow company health and safety requirements, supporting other departments when required

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

ESSENTIAL

• HGV Category C / Class 2 driving licence
• Driver CPC qualification
• Able to undertake the manual handling required by the role
• Good attention to detail

DESIRABLE

• Counterbalance Forklift Truck licence
• Experience using a Pedestrian Electric Truck
