Pertemps Manchester is seeking an experienced HGV Class 2 Driver for an immediate start in Middleton, Manchester. The role involves nationwide store deliveries and 7.5-tonne driving duties with potential extension beyond the initial 2-3 months.

You will work a 4 on, 3 off pattern with start times from 00:01 to 05:00 and attend a one-hour induction. Essential: HGV Class 2, CPC, tachograph, and delivery experience.

Pay: Up to £16.50 per hour PAYE or £21.00 per hour Umbrella

Working Pattern: 4 on, 3 off (4 days from 7)

Shift Start Times: Between 00:01 (midnight) and 5:00 AM

Job Description

We are currently recruiting experienced and reliable HGV Class 2 (Category C) Drivers for an immediate start based in Middleton, Manchester.

This is an ongoing opportunity, initially expected to run for 2-3 months, with the potential for extension depending on operational requirements.

The role involves nationwide store deliveries, with drivers required to operate HGV Class 2 vehicles and undertake 7.5-tonne driving duties. There may also be requirements to drive a Luton van or 10-tonne vehicle.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver goods to retail stores nationwide, ensuring deliveries are completed safely and on time.
• Drive HGV Class 2 (Category C) vehicles and undertake 7.5-tonne driving duties as required.
• Potentially operate a Luton van or 10-tonne vehicle, depending on operational requirements.
• Handball boxes at store locations, including loading and unloading deliveries.
• Collect store returns as required.
• Complete delivery paperwork and relevant vehicle checks.
• Comply with road safety regulations, company procedures and site-specific instructions.
• Maintain a professional and courteous approach when dealing with store staff and colleagues.

Working Hours and Shift Pattern

4 on, 3 off (4 days from 7).

Start times between 00:01 (midnight) and 5:00 AM.

Flexibility is essential due to nationwide deliveries and operational requirements.

Induction and Training

All successful applicants must attend a one-hour induction at our site before starting work.

Induction appointments are available between 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM for the remainder of this week. Applicants must be available to attend within this time window before commencing the role.

The role will initially involve double-manned deliveries, working alongside another driver to familiarise yourself with routes, delivery procedures and store requirements. Following the initial familiarisation period, drivers will be expected to carry out deliveries independently.

Essential Requirements

• Valid HGV Category C (Class 2) driving licence.
• Valid Driver CPC qualification.
• Valid digital tachograph card.
• Previous commercial driving or delivery experience.
• Ability to undertake manual handling, including loading and unloading boxes.
• Good timekeeping, reliability and flexibility.
• A professional attitude and commitment to safe driving practices.

Minimum Driver Requirements - Insurance Criteria

• Minimum age: 25 years old.
• Minimum of 2 years since passing the relevant driving test.
• No more than 6 penalty points on your driving licence.
• Applicants must meet all the above criteria to be considered for the role.

Pay Rates

• Up to £16.50 per hour PAYE.
• Up to £21.00 per hour Umbrella.
