Job summary

Stobart in Penrith are recruiting permanent HGV Class 1 drivers for night shifts to support our General Haulage operations, delivering to stores and distribution centres across the region.

Roles are full time with nights Mon-Fri; shifts typically start between 16:00 and 19:00. Weekend work may be required. We offer pay progressions from £15.80 to £18.41 per hour plus a £5 per shift meal allowance.

Qualifications

• Holding a valid C+E Licence is essential.
• Minimum 6 months HGV Class 1 driving experience preferred (new pass drivers considered).
• No more than 6 points; no DD/DR convictions.

Responsibilities

• General Haulage with Curtainside trailers to DCs and Stores.
• Collection runs Stores to load out to Factories/Distribution Centres.
• Support general work including occasional store deliveries and unloading cages.
• Complete vehicle checks and maintain documentation.
• Maintain high safety, compliance, and professionalism.
• Collaborate with transport team for smooth operations.
• Adhere to Drivers hours, WTD, and tachograph regulations.

Job description

We are recruiting permanent HGV Class 1 drivers to join us at our operations in Penrith to support our General Haulage operation, completing store and RDC deliveries across the region. This role is ideal for a HGV driver who takes pride in safe driving, excellent customer service and dependable delivery standards.

The roles are full time, working on a permanent basis, with ideal shift patterns available on Nights below:

• Monday to Friday Nights

Shifts typically start between 16:00 and 19:00. We offer flexibility in shift patterns, so if these start dates and times dont quite suit your availability, let us know what youre looking for, well do our best to accommodate your preferences.

Weekend working may be required in line with business demand.

Pay Rates:

We have increased our pay rates, with rates now ranging from £15.80 to £18.41 per hour, depending on shift giving you even more reason to build your driving career with us.

• Mon-Fri Nights - £15.80 per hour
• Saturday and Sunday Nights - £18.10 per hour
• Bank Holidays - £18.41 per hour.

On top of base salary our HGV Drivers will be entitled to £5 per shift tax-free meal allowance.

Driver Responsibilities:

• General Haulage with Curtainside trailers, to Distribution Centres and Stores
• Collections from Stores to load out to Factories and Distribution Centres
• Supporting General work, including occasional store deliveries and requirement to load and unload cages
• Completing all necessary vehicle checks and documentation
• Maintaining high levels of safety, compliance, and professionalism
• Working closely with the transport team to ensure smooth operations
• Adhere to Driver's hours, WTD, and tachograph legislation.

Qualifications

You should hold a valid C+E Licence and ideally have a minimum of 6 months HGV Class 1 driving experience (We will consider New Pass Drivers)

• No more than 6 points and no DD/ DR Code convictions.
• Hold a current valid DCPC & Tacho cards.
• Understand and able to comply with Drivers hours and WTD legislation.
• Able to understand and carry out necessary vehicle checks to ensure vehicle safety and able to report defects correctly.
• Should comply with on-site health and safety requirements.
• Excellent communication skills.
