Job summary

Stobart is recruiting permanent HGV Class 1 drivers to join our depot in Dagenham to support General Haulage and Trunking operations. This role is ideal for a HGV driver who takes pride in safe driving, excellent customer service and dependable delivery standards.

The roles are full time, working on a permanent basis and we have a variety of shift patterns including days and Nights available; weekends may be required depending on demand.

Qualifications

• Hold a valid C+E Licence and ideally at least 6 months HGV Class 1 experience.
• No more than 6 points and no DD/ DR convictions.
• Hold a current DCPC and Tachograph cards.
• Understand Drivers hours, WTD and tachograph rules.
• Carry out vehicle checks to ensure safety and report defects.
• Comply with on-site health and safety requirements.
• Excellent communication skills for interactions with clients.

Responsibilities

• General Haulage with Curtainside trailers to distribution centres and stores.
• Collections from stores to load out to distribution centres.
• Support general work including occasional store deliveries and loading/unloading cages.
• Complete vehicle checks and maintain documentation.
• Maintain safety, compliance and professionalism in operations.
• Work with transport team to ensure smooth operations.
• Adhere to drivers hours, WTD and tachograph legislation.
• Trunking opportunities available depending on availability.

Job description

We are recruiting permanent HGV Class 1 drivers to join us at our depot in Goresbrook Park, Dagenham to support our General Haulage and Trunking Operations. This role is ideal for a HGV driver who takes pride in safe driving, excellent customer service and dependable delivery standards.

The roles are full time, working on a permanent basis and we have a variety of shift patterns including days (between 04:00 - 07:00 starts) and Nights (between 16:00 - 19:00 starts) available working any 5 days from 7. Weekend work may be required depending on demand.

Pay Rates:

We have increased our pay rates, with rates now ranging from £15.15 to £18.96 per hour, depending on shift giving you even more reason to build your driving career with us.

• Mon-Fri Days - £15.15 per hour
• Mon-Fri Night Shift - £16.35 per hour
• Saturday and Sunday Day Shift - £18.15 per hour
• Saturday and Sunday Night Shift - £18.65 per hour
• Bank Holidays - £18.96 per hour.

On top of base salary our HGV Drivers will be entitled to £5 per shift tax-free meal allowance, and £25 per night out tax-free allowance (if applicable).

Driver Responsibilities:

• General Haulage with Curtainside trailers, to Distribution Centres and Stores
• Collections from Stores to load out to Distribution Centres
• Supporting General work, including occasional store deliveries and requirement to load and unload cages
• Completing all necessary vehicle checks and documentation
• Maintaining high levels of safety, compliance, and professionalism
• Working closely with the transport team to ensure smooth operations
• Adhere to Driver's hours, WTD, and tachograph legislation.
• Trunking Opportunities available depending on availability

Job Requirements:

• You should hold a valid C+E Licence and ideally have a minimum of 6 months HGV Class 1 driving experience (We will consider New Pass Drivers)
• No more than 6 points and no DD/ DR Code convictions.
• Hold a current valid DCPC & Tacho cards.
• Understand and able to comply with Drivers hours and WTD legislation.
• Able to understand and carry out necessary vehicle checks to ensure vehicle safety and able to report defects correctly.
• Should comply with on-site health and safety requirements.
• Excellent communication skills.
