• Experience with tail lifts and both manual and electric pallet trucks.
• Physically fit and able to perform regular lifting and manual handling.

Responsibilities

• Drive HGV vehicles safely and professionally.
• Complete multi-drop collections throughout the day.
• Load and unload using manual and electric pallet trucks.
• Operate and use tail lift safely and efficiently.
• Perform daily vehicle safety checks before shifts.
• Follow transport legislation and company procedures.
• Complete collection paperwork accurately.
• Ensure loads are secured correctly for transport.
• Wash and fuel vehicles using client facilities.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness and biosecurity.

Looking for ongoing driving work with the opportunity to secure a permanent position?

Driver Hire Edinburgh City are currently recruiting reliable and experienced HGV Drivers for a well-established client operating within the poultry industry.

This role will initially begin on a temporary basis, with the potential to progress into a temp-to-perm position for the right candidate. We are looking for professional drivers who are comfortable working in a physically demanding role and can maintain high standards of safety, compliance, and hygiene.

The Role

Your duties will include:

• Driving HGV vehicles safely and professionally
• Completing multi-drop collections throughout the day
• Loading and unloading using both manual and electric pallet trucks
• Operating and using a tail lift safely and efficiently
• Conducting thorough daily vehicle safety checks before commencing work
• Following all transport legislation and company procedures
• Completing collection paperwork accurately
• Ensuring loads are secured correctly for transport
• Washing and fuelling vehicles at the end of shifts using the client's onsite facilities
• Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and biosecurity

All successful candidates must complete a full day of paid training before undertaking any driving duties.

Candidates must successfully complete the training and induction process before starting work with the client.

• Minimum 8-hour shifts guaranteed
• Early morning starts

This is a physically demanding role involving regular manual handling throughout the day.

Applicants must be:

• Physically fit and comfortable with regular lifting and moving of goods
• Confident using tail lifts
• Experienced using both manual and electric pallet trucks
• Comfortable working outdoors and across multiple collection sites
• Able to handle a fast-paced workload safely and efficiently

What We're Looking For

• Valid UK HGV Licence
• Valid Driver CPC
• Valid Digital Tachograph Card
• Previous commercial driving experience
• Experience using tail lifts
• Experience using both manual and electric pallet trucks
• Good understanding of vehicle checks and defect reporting
• Physically fit and comfortable with manual handling duties
• Reliable, punctual and professional attitude
• Strong focus on health & safety
• Willingness to follow strict bird flu biosecurity procedures
• Ability to complete a full day training course before starting
