Job summary

Hermes in Leeds is hiring a HGC Class 1 Driver on a permanent basis. You will operate a Volvo tractor-trailer from an up-to-date fleet, with shifts predominantly Mon-Fri nights and approx. 9 hours per shift.

You'll plan your own routes, trunk goods to regional hubs, and be home after each night shift. Daily checks and defect reporting are part of the role, with 28 days leave and a supportive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Class 1 Driving licence is a minimum requirement.
• Driver CPC qualification card is required.
• Completed required DCPC training hours or be working towards them.
• Excellent knowledge of Road Transport Laws and commitment to safe operations.

Responsibilities

• Drive a lorry from a modern Volvo fleet with high specifications.
• Trunk goods to regional hubs on the night shift and work Mon-Fri nights.
• Plan routes with minimal supervision and be home after each 9-hour shift.
• Inspect vehicle and trailer daily and complete a Defect Report when needed.

WhatYou’llDo:

You will drive a lorry from our exceptional fleet of Volvo vehicles, all less than 4 years old.They’rea joy to drive, and are equipped to a high specification, including fridges, leatherseatsand many more optional extras to make sureyou’recomfortable.

Most of our sites run from Monday to Friday, with 45 hour working weeks, and9-hourshifts per day which typically start at5/6pm. Our well-organised shift schedules mean you often know in advance whereyou’llbe driving, taking the stress out of your day.

Key Role Responsibilities

Wedon’tmicromanage our drivers. We trust them to get the job done and plan their own routes.This job involves trunking to regional hubs on the night shift. So, if you like the independence of being out on the open road for long stretches - but also want to be home again at the end of every 9-hour shift, this is the job for you.

You’llmake sure Cages, Pallets, Freight, Stillages and Yorks get to and from customers bang on time.At some sites, the goods will be loaded or unloaded for you - at others,you’llneed to do it yourself. Scanning consignments and driving pallet trucks will sometimes be part of your day.

You’llbe responsible forinspecting your vehicle and trailer every day and complete a Defect Report if necessary.
