Job description

We’re looking for reliable, professional Class 1 HGV Drivers to join our team at Halfords, one of the UK’s leading retail brands. You’ll play a vital role in keeping the shelves stocked and the customers happy, ensuring goods are delivered safely, efficiently, and on time.

You’ll be joining a friendly and supportive transport team where safety, respect, and teamwork come first.

Various shifts and start times available, offering full‑time work and ad‑hoc cover over 7 days a week.

Rates

• Days – £18.21 PAYE (approx. £1,001.55 weekly, 55 hours)
• Nights – £21.31 PAYE (paid between hours of 8 pm and 6 am) (approx. £1,172.05 weekly, 55 hours)
• £50 bonus if you work a Saturday or Sunday

Duties

• Operate articulated HGVs (over 3.5 tonnes) for local and national store deliveries, including single and double‑deck trailers and cage work.
• Ensure all loads are properly secured to prevent damage during transit.
• Plan routes efficiently to ensure timely deliveries, adapting to traffic and weather conditions.
• Communicate effectively with site personnel and provide excellent customer service.
• Follow all road safety regulations and company procedures, including vehicle checks and reporting defects.

Requirements

• A valid Class 1 (Category C+E) licence
• A valid Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph Card
• No more than 6 penalty points on your licence
• Minimum 9 months experience
• A good understanding of driver hours and working time regulations
• A positive attitude and a commitment to safe, efficient driving
