Job summary

Citizens Advice Ltd in Buxton and surrounding areas is seeking a Help to Claim Adviser to join our advice services team delivering guidance on Universal Credit and related benefits.

The role supports the national Help to Claim service, assisting callers and webchat users up to the first payment, with a hybrid mix of home and office working from 8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday.

We welcome experienced advisers and those new to the field, with full training and support provided.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal (essential).
• Empathetic, non-judgmental approach to people (essential).
• Strong IT and digital skills, with ability to learn new systems quickly (essential).
• Commitment to working to performance targets and KPIs (essential).
• Solid understanding of the current welfare benefits system (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Provide advice to the public on Universal Credit and related benefits.
• Support customers up to first payment via telephone and webchat between 8am and 6pm Mon-Fri.
• Participate in full training and ongoing support for the role.
• Work as part of the national Help to Claim service to deliver timely guidance.
