Job description

A highly successful IT and telecommunications services company based in Central London is seeking a Helpdesk Engineer. In this role, you will work in the customer office five days a week, responsible for troubleshooting at the 1st and 2nd line levels, acting as an escalation point, managing customer relationships, and providing general IT services configuration and support.

Benefits: Commuting costs (up to Zone 6)

Type: Fixed term until 30th April 2026, with possibility to extend

Working hours: 9:00 - 17:00, Monday to Friday

Salary: Up to £29k + commuting costs (up to Zone 6)

Helpdesk Engineer Main Responsibilities
  • Troubleshooting for 1st and 2nd lines and support as an escalation point
  • Managing support tickets using the IT support ticket system
  • Building good relationships with customers during meetings
  • PC support and initial setup
  • Managing and implementing server environments
  • Understanding the company's IT environment for planning and design
  • Configuring daily IT services
  • Demonstrating services and conducting acceptance tests
  • Negotiating and managing vendor relationships
  • Developing and implementing new features and services
  • Building or suspending PC/server security systems
  • Scheduling projects and service delivery
  • Ensuring profitable system implementation and safe operations
  • Providing regular status reports to the line manager
Ideal Candidate
  • Customer service experience
  • Basic knowledge of PC software (Windows 10/11/server, MS Office, antivirus)
  • Knowledge of PC hardware, servers, and public clouds
  • Understanding of network switches/routers/firewalls
  • Experience with public clouds such as AWS and Azure
  • Design, installation, and management experience is a plus
  • Business-level English skills
  • Ability to investigate and resolve technical issues
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Positive, extroverted attitude
  • Ability to support all EMEA customer service areas
  • Understanding of Japanese culture and some Japanese language skills are advantageous
