Job summary

FedEx is seeking a fully skilled Heavy Goods Vehicle Maintenance Technician to join the Engineering Team at the Vehicle Maintenance Unit in Preston. You will service and maintain the company fleet, ensuring safety, legality and reliability in line with planned maintenance schedules.

The role offers a 40-hour week with an afternoon shift (Mon-Fri 14:00-22:30). Base pay is £21.70 per hour with premiums for evenings (£2.33) and night hours (£2.82), plus benefits and career development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Fully skilled with LGV C&E licence or equivalent.
• City & Guilds parts 1 & 2 or equivalent in commercial vehicle repairs.
• Knowledge of automotive equipment and testing/troubleshooting tools.
• Able to lift/move heavy vehicle components.
• Experience welding and basic DC electrical troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Complete service and inspection records.
• Prepare vehicles for annual MOT and ensure first-time pass.
• Perform ad-hoc vehicle repairs and rectify defects.
• Ensure safe use of tools and equipment.
• Maintain housekeeping and assist management as needed.
