Job summary

TeacherActive in Gateshead is seeking a Specialist Teaching Assistant - Hearing Inclusion to support children with hearing impairments across primary and secondary schools from September.

You will provide dedicated 1-2-1 support, utilise BSL where possible, and work with staff to promote communication, engagement and independence throughout the school day.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children or young people with hearing impairments.
  • BSL qualification or practical BSL experience desirable.
  • Experience providing 1-2-1 support within an educational setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

Salary: £14 - £16 per hour

Do you have experience using British Sign Language (BSL) or supporting pupils with additional communication needs?

Are you looking for a rewarding Specialist Teaching Assistant role across supportive Primary and Secondary schools?

The schools are looking to appoint a Specialist Teaching Assistant - Hearing Inclusion on a long-term basis, with both full-time and part-time opportunities available from September. The successful Specialist Teaching Assistant - Hearing Inclusion will provide dedicated 1-2-1 support for pupils with hearing impairments, working closely with teaching staff to promote communication, engagement and independence throughout the school day.

The successful Specialist Teaching Assistant - Hearing Inclusion will have:

  • Experience working with children or young people with hearing impairments
  • British Sign Language (BSL) qualification or practical BSL experience is desirable
  • Experience providing 1-2-1 support within an educational setting
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A patient, caring and adaptable approach
  • A genuine passion for supporting children to achieve their full potential
