A leading healthcare provider is seeking a Healthcare Support Worker to join their team at Poole Hospital. The role involves providing safe and effective care for children and young people, with opportunities for professional development. University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust, a three-site acute trust affiliated with Bournemouth University, with an annual budget of £730m, employs around 10,000 staff and is expanding with a £250m estates program to enhance healthcare facilities.
Located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty near beaches, the area offers a balanced work/life environment, with access to the New Forest, Purbecks, and proximity to London. We seek applicants to join our proactive team, working alongside trained nursing staff to provide safe, effective care for children and young people aged 0-16 (up to 18 for those with long-term or complex needs). Our facilities include assessment units, inpatient wards, HDU, surgical/medical day units, and Emergency Department areas.
Shifts are 12-hour rotations covering days, nights, and weekends. Future plans include relocating to a new Children's Unit at Bournemouth, alongside a new Emergency Department.
This position is advertised as Band 3; however, applicants lacking the care certificate will initially be employed as Band 2. Those with a care certificate will start at Band 3.

Our values underpin our approach to patient care and teamwork. We are investing in service development, including a planned move of this service to Bournemouth in November 2025, which may affect travel allowances and commute considerations.
Employees will not be eligible for excess mileage reimbursement for the move, and travel will be considered a normal commute, managed according to Trust policies.
