Job description

Join us to apply for the Healthcare Support Worker - Ward B3 role at University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust.

Are you passionate about caring for others? Why not pursue a rewarding career as a Healthcare Support Worker with the NHS? We offer fully supported training, guidance for career progression, and a comprehensive induction process. No prior experience is necessary, as training will be provided. Successful candidates will undergo a care certificate, with mentors available on wards to support your development.

This position is advertised as Band 3; however, applicants without the care certificate will be employed as Band 2 initially. Those with a care certificate accreditation will start at Band 3. Our HCSWs are vital to the trust, working in wards and departmental teams, providing compassionate and dignified care across various specialties.

Main duties include:

  1. Working effectively under supervision of registered healthcare professionals.
  2. Providing high standards of patient care and documentation.
  3. Supporting a diverse patient demographic, from children to the elderly.
  4. Adapting duties based on training and ward requirements.

We require full flexibility across all shift patterns, including weekdays, weekends, nights, and bank holidays, as the hospital operates 24/7.

Applicants will need to complete a numeracy and literacy assessment and an interview as part of the selection process. Please note, we cannot offer sponsorship for this position.

Base Location: Poole Hospital

Due to service developments and the New Hospital Programme, some services may relocate, with a planned move to Royal Bournemouth Hospital during winter 2025.
