As University Hospitals Dorset, we are a three-site acute trust with ‘university hospital’ status through our partnership with Bournemouth University, managing an annual budget of £730m.
We provide highly regarded health services, employing around 10,000 staff. Our ambitious £250m estates programme aims to deliver state-of-the-art facilities over the next two years to meet healthcare needs.
Located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with over seven miles of sandy beaches, the area offers excellent work/life balance opportunities. The New Forest and the Purbecks are nearby, and we are less than three hours from London by road or train. The towns of Poole, Bournemouth, and Christchurch, along with scenic villages, are just minutes from our hospitals.
We value a diverse workforce and an inclusive environment, welcoming applications from minority groups and supporting various staff networks, including Women’s Network, BAME, Pride, EU, Pro Ability, and Armed Forces Support Group. We are signed up to the Disability Confident and Armed Forces Covenant schemes.
We are seeking applicants to join our forward-thinking team. The successful candidate will work alongside trained nursing staff and other multidisciplinary team members to provide safe and effective care to children and young people aged 0-16 years (up to 18 for those with long-term or complex needs).
The children’s unit includes a busy assessment unit, two inpatient wards, a High Dependency Unit (HDU), a surgical/medical day unit, and a Children’s Area within the Emergency Department (ED). Shifts are 12-hour rotations, including days, nights, and weekends.
Future plans include moving to a new Children’s Unit at the Bournemouth site, alongside a new major Children’s Emergency Department.
This post is advertised as Band 3; however, applicants without the care certificate competencies will initially be employed as Band 2. Applicants with a care certificate accreditation will start at Band 3.
