NHS National Services Scotland is seeking Band 3 Health Care Support Workers for the Supported Discharge Unit. The role involves providing patient care, supporting nursing staff, and ensuring high-quality service delivery in a fast-paced environment. Would you like to develop and enhance your career? Ward 6, Supported Discharge Unit is recruiting Band 3 Health Care Support Workers (HCSW).
You will support the nursing team by carrying out clinical tasks, providing direct patient care, and handling administrative duties. You will work as part of a team to deliver high-quality, seamless, accessible care to patients and their families, ensuring prompt investigations to support patient management by medical and nursing staff.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills are essential, along with a commitment to patient safety and confidentiality. An interest in working in an acute hospital setting and the ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment are required. A minimum of two years' experience in an acute hospital setting is necessary. You will participate in training and work independently without direct supervision from a registered nurse.
Our HCSWs collaborate with the Nursing and Discharge Teams to organize and manage patient discharges independently. It is desirable for candidates to be trained in all Band 3 clinical skills, including vital signs, venipuncture, cannulation, and catheterization; training will be provided if needed. Good IT system knowledge is also preferred.
This role involves rotation across day, night, and weekend shifts to support nursing staff and patient needs.

The salary is pro rata for part-time hours. NHS Scotland will reduce their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours from 1 April 2024, with no change in pay, and this will be applied pro rata for part-time staff. You may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week temporarily until the new roster arrangements are implemented. For questions, contact your Hiring Manager.
