Circle Health Group’s Woodlands Hospital in Darlington is recruiting a Healthcare Assistant to join the Wards team on a 32.5-hour-per-week, permanent basis. The role focuses on patient dignity and comfort with direct care duties and observations.

The successful candidate will work under registered nurses, support daily activities, and help maintain high standards of infection control and documentation.

Qualifications

• Experience in care or health support role.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills with a caring attitude.
• Ability to follow instructions and escalate concerns.
• Basic literacy, numeracy and IT skills.
• Physically able to undertake moving and handling tasks.

Responsabilités

• Assist patients with personal hygiene, washing, dressing, toileting, oral care and mobility.
• Help patients with eating, drinking and nutritional support, including documenting intake.
• Record routine observations (BP, pulse, respiration, temperature, oxygen saturation, glucose) after training.
• Report concerns about a patient’s condition to the nurse or clinician promptly.
• Record care and observations clearly on documentation systems.
• Follow infection prevention procedures, including hand hygiene and PPE.

We have an opportunity for an Healthcare Assistant to join their team of staff in theWards department.

This is a part time role for 32.5 hours a week. The role holder will be required tocover a flexible shift pattern.

Duties of this role include:

• Assist patients with personal hygiene, washing, dressing, toileting, oral care, and mobility needs, respecting their preferences and dignity.
• Help patients with eating, drinking, and nutritional support, including documenting intake where appropriate.
• Carry out and accurately record routine observations such as blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate, temperature, oxygen saturation, and blood glucose levels (after appropriate training).
• Report any concerns about a patient's condition or wellbeing promptly to the Registered Nurse or relevant clinician.
• Record care provided and patient observations clearly and accurately on appropriate documentation systems or electronic health records.
• Follow all infection prevention and control procedures, including hand hygiene, PPE use, and environmental cleaning standards.

Applicants should meet the following criteria:

• Previous experience in a care or health support role (hospital, care home, community, or domiciliary).
• Good communication and interpersonal skills with a caring, compassionate attitude.
