Job summary

Circle Health Group at Woodlands Hospital in Darlington is hiring a Healthcare Assistant to join the Ward team on a 32.5 hour, permanent contract. This role is based on-site and offers a competitive salary of £24,947 per year (FTE).

You will support patients with personal care, meals, mobility, observations, and documentation while maintaining dignity and infection control. A flexible shift pattern and commitment to high standards are essential.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a care or health support role.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills with a caring, compassionate attitude.
• Ability to follow instructions and escalate concerns appropriately.
• Basic literacy, numeracy, and IT skills.
• Physically able to undertake duties including moving and handling tasks.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with personal hygiene, washing, dressing, toileting, oral care, and mobility needs.
• Help patients with eating, drinking, and nutritional support, including documenting intake where appropriate.
• Carry out and accurately record routine observations such as blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate, temperature, oxygen saturation, and blood glucose levels (after appropriate training).
• Report any concerns about a patient's condition or wellbeing promptly to the Registered Nurse or relevant clinician.
• Record care provided and patient observations clearly and accurately on appropriate documentation systems or electronic health records.
• Follow all infection prevention and control procedures, including hand hygiene, PPE use, and environmental cleaning standards.

We have an opportunity for an Healthcare Assistant to join their team of staff in the Wards department.

This is a part time role for 32.5 hours a week. The role holder will be required to cover a flexible shift pattern.

Duties Of This Role Include

• Assist patients with personal hygiene, washing, dressing, toileting, oral care, and mobility needs, respecting their preferences and dignity.
• Help patients with eating, drinking, and nutritional support, including documenting intake where appropriate.
