Health & Safety Coordinator/Advisor (12 month FTC)

Your Role

We are seeking a passionate Health and Safety Coordinator/Advisor for a 12-month fixed-term contract. The role requires flexible, innovative, and diverse thinking. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Supporting the Head of Health and Safety in delivering services to internal customers.
  2. Supporting the achievement of standards and accreditations such as ISO, CHAS, and SafeContractor.
  3. Conducting reviews, analysis, and trend assessments of accidents, incidents, and near misses, and ensuring closure of logged events.
  4. Working closely with teams to develop learning from significant events and sharing insights across the Operating Unit.
  5. Supporting incident investigations as appropriate.
  6. Assisting in creating monthly SSHEQ team reports.
  7. Supporting the creation, review, and implementation of policies, procedures, and guidance documents, with an emphasis on streamlining and digitization where appropriate.
  8. Providing technical health and safety responses to queries and offering practical advice.
  9. Leading continuous improvement initiatives within the SSHEQ team and wider Operating Unit.
  10. Supporting the development and use of IT systems within SSHEQ and across the Operating Unit.
  11. Deputising for the Head of Health and Safety as required.

About You

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  1. Experience working within health and safety.
  2. Knowledge of health, safety, and environment legislation.
  3. The ability to collaborate effectively with the SSHEQ team to achieve results.
  4. Comfort working independently.
  5. Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  6. Practical knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, SharePoint, and Teams.
  7. Ability to meet client security clearance requirements if needed.
  8. Willingness to travel across the UK on an ad-hoc basis if required.
  9. Professional and ethical conduct.

Additional requirements include:

  1. Previous health and safety experience.
  2. Minimum NEBOSH certificate.
  3. UK Driving Licence.
  4. Membership, ideally IOSH (Tech IOSH).
