Job Opportunity: Headteacher for New SEMH School in Cornwall

Long Term Teachers is partnering with a specialist SEN academy Trust in Cornwall to open a new dedicated SEMH school in April 2025. We are seeking an SEN senior leader or Headteacher eager to develop their experience within a Multi Academy Trust.

This new school aims to transform life opportunities for young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. It will be the only SEMH school in Cornwall offering a continuum of specialist provision, supporting pupils aged 4 to 16, serving the local community.

Our mission is to be a force for good in SEN, making a positive impact on lives. We challenge conventions, pursue excellence, and strive to create better futures for young people and their families.

The school aspires to be an outstanding institution that celebrates neurodiversity by respecting and responding to developmental differences, thereby improving educational outcomes.

We are looking for an inspirational Headteacher to start in April 2025, leading the school in its development before opening in September 2025.

About the Role

As Headteacher, you will develop an outstanding provision that transforms educational and future life opportunities for pupils. You will have support from central services (Finance, HR, IT) and a network of supportive Headteachers and SEN specialists.

The role is suitable for an experienced SEN senior leader or Headteacher seeking to extend their leadership experience within a Trust setting. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record in SEN school leadership, share the Trust’s vision, and excel in engaging and inspiring staff and the community.

Key Objectives
  • Develop a shared vision aligned with the Trust strategy, inspiring pupils, staff, and the community.
  • Implement effective strategic and operational planning, including self-evaluation and school improvement.
  • Ensure outstanding outcomes tailored to pupils' needs and abilities.
  • Build a motivated, professional staff committed to excellence and development.
  • Create a safe environment prioritizing welfare for pupils, staff, and visitors.
  • Meet statutory requirements and achieve high inspection ratings.
  • Ensure the school's commercial success through pupil occupancy, cost management, and growth planning.
