Job summary

Moniepoint Inc. in the United Kingdom is seeking a Head of Engineering for the POS Application Platform to lead the platform layer powering our Android-based POS devices.

You will own architecture, standards, and cross-squad governance, driving observability, reliability, and scale across markets. You’ll build and scale the platform team, partner with OEMs, and translate technical decisions into business impact while shaping engineering culture and processes across Payments, Onboarding, VAS,

Qualifications

• 10+ years software engineering experience with 6+ years leading teams
• Experience building software for POS devices (on-device)
• Deep knowledge of EMV standards and payment certifications (PCI DSS, P2PE)
• Android engineering expertise (Kotlin/Java) for POS apps
• Experience building internal platforms, libraries, or toolchains
• Experience with multiple POS device types and OEM integrations
• Platform engineering leadership experience and governance across squads
• Fintech background and regulated environment exposure
• Exposure to C/C++ is a plus
• Experience at Series A/B startups is preferred

Responsibilities

• Own the technical strategy and architecture for the POS Application Platform
• Define and enforce platform standards across device types and OEMs
• Lead POS engineers embedded in multiple squads and raise engineering quality
• Own end-to-end observability, monitoring, and incident response frameworks
• Shape onboarding for new device types and integration with the platform
• Build and scale the platform team with hiring and mentoring cross-market
• Translate platform decisions into business impact with leadership collaboration
• Establish engineering processes, tooling standards, and CI/CD pipelines
