Job summary

Moniepoint is seeking a Head of Engineering for the POS Application Platform in a remote role based out of London. You will own the platform that powers on-device POS software, setting standards across Android/Kotlin, tooling, and architecture for a multi-market fintech.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 6 years leading teams.
• Experience building software for Point-of-Sale terminal devices (on-device/app layer).
• Strong knowledge of EMV standards and payment certification processes (PCI DSS, P2PE).
• Deep Android engineering expertise in Kotlin and Java for POS platforms.
• Proven track record building internal engineering platforms, libraries, or tooling.
• Experience governing multiple POS device types with OEM integrations.
• Experience maturing platform engineering functions and cross-squad governance.
• Fintech experience at scale is strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with terminal management systems and device observability is a plus.
• Backend experience with Java/Spring Boot is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical strategy and architecture for the POS Application Platform.
• Govern core platform pillars: developer experience, reliability, frameworks, and adoption across squads.
• Define and enforce engineering standards across POS devices and OEMs.
• Lead POS engineers across multiple squads and drive platform quality.
• Own end-to-end observability, monitoring, and incident response for the platform.
• Architect how multiple device types are onboarded and integrated with the platform.
• Collaborate with OEMs and hardware teams on new device types from day one.
• Scale the platform team with hiring, mentoring, and growth planning.
• Translate platform decisions into business impact with Product and leadership.
• Establish and improve CI/CD, tooling standards, and developer productivity metrics.
