Job summary

Moniepoint in London is seeking a Head of Engineering, Payment Gateway to lead the technical direction of our payments platform. You will manage multiple engineering teams through managers, shaping architecture and roadmap, with a focus on reliability, security and international scalability.

Qualifications

• 10+ years software engineering, 5+ years in leadership.
• 5+ years hands-on Java production experience.
• 5+ years experience managing managers.
• Experience in payments/fintech products.
• Deep knowledge of API-first products and developer platforms.
• Proven leadership of multiple engineering teams via managers.
• Strong backend skills in high-throughput distributed systems.
• Experience building or operating a payment gateway or multi-currency platform is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own the full technical strategy, architecture and roadmap for the Monnify platform across all capability areas.
• Lead multiple engineering teams through engineering managers, setting quality standards and building organisational capability.
• Own the developer experience end-to-end, including APIs, documentation, SDKs and integration ease.
• Drive platform evolution towards multi-currency and international scalability.
• Ensure platform reliability, scalability and security within a regulated environment.
• Partner with product, commercial and operations teams to align technical investments with business goals.
• Hire, mentor and develop engineering managers and senior engineers to support growth.
