Job description

As Head of Operations, you will oversee the day-to-day performance of the Operations Department, managing engineers, coordinators and key stakeholders to ensure high-quality service delivery. You will act as a senior representative of the business, working closely with clients, suppliers and internal teams while reporting directly to the Managing Director.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, schedule and direct engineering teams to meet service demand and customer expectations
  • Recruit, train, manage and develop operations coordinators and team members
  • Oversee quality standards, productivity and continuous improvement across operations
  • Conduct performance reviews, appraisals and set improvement objectives
  • Establish and maintain training programmes aligned with procedures and safety standards
  • Communicate daily with mechanical, electrical and air conditioning teams to ensure effective resource planning
  • Review work orders, invoices, time reports and labour usage to ensure accuracy and cash flow efficiency
  • Liaise with suppliers regarding warranties, product issues and material availability
  • Ensure parts and materials are ordered and available to meet project deadlines
  • Attend senior management meetings and contribute to company-wide objectives
  • Ensure all departmental policies, procedures and compliance standards are followed

This is a senior leadership role with responsibility for operational delivery, team performance, customer satisfaction and financial efficiency. You will be an experienced operational leader with a strong background in building services or engineering environments. You are commercially aware, highly organised and comfortable operating in a fast‑paced, customer‑focused setting.

Essential Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years’ management experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Post‑secondary education in a trade, technical or related discipline
  • Working knowledge of plumbing and electrical systems
  • Strong leadership and people‑management skills
  • Excellent communication, customer service and conflict‑management abilities
  • High level of organisation with strong attention to detail
  • Confident using MS Word, Excel, Outlook and general business systems
  • Proactive mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement
  • Professional appearance and ability to lead by example
  • Valid driving licence with a clean record
  • Flexibility to work non‑standard hours when required
  • Ability to perform under pressure and manage competing priorities
