Job summary

Joshua Robert Recruitment Limited seeks a hands-on Head of Building Control to lead the Community Team across the West Midlands. You will supervise ~10–11 Registered Building Inspectors, drive quality, and ensure adherence to regulatory standards while delivering excellent service to a major local authority.

You will shape budgets, fee setting, and performance monitoring, while building a stable, high-performing team and developing future leaders within Building Consultancy services.

Qualifications

• Experience leading local authority or private sector Building Control teams.
• Strong track record in supervising and signing off building control cases.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Community Building Control team of ~10–11 inspectors.
• Supervise, review and sign off building control work.
• Deliver against client service requirements and national standards.
• Lead recruitment to move from contractors to permanent staff.
• Develop and mentor trainees joining the service.
• Shape system improvements and database/site notes replacement.
• Collaborate with designers, contractors and regional authorities.
• Deputise for the Director as needed.
