Job summary

Acivico Building Consultancy seeks an experienced Building Control leader to head its Community Team, delivering building control services across Birmingham. The role leads a team of 10–11 Registered Building Inspectors, providing supervision, technical review and sign‑off while meeting high regulatory standards and Birmingham City Council service requirements.

Hybrid working with one day in Birmingham per week is offered.

Qualifications

• Registered Building Inspector status (Class 2 A–F or Class 3) with Class 4 Technical Manager registration.
• Proven experience leading, motivating and developing a team in Building Control.
• Strong technical and professional credibility with supervisory experience.
• Commercial awareness including understanding of fees, budgets and performance management.

Responsibilities

• Lead and stabilise the Community Building Control team.
• Supervise, review and sign off Building Control work and ensure regulatory standards.
• Deliver against Birmingham City Council service requirements and national standards.
• Contribute to budgets, fee-setting and monthly performance monitoring.
• Lead recruitment to create a stable, long-term team and develop trainees.
• Deputise for the Director of Building Consultancy when required.
