Job summary

Brendoncare Foundation is recruiting for Head Housekeeper at Brendoncare Stildon, East Grinstead. This full-time, permanent role (35 hours/week) includes some weekends, with flexible shifts where possible.

You will lead the housekeeping and laundry teams to uphold high standards across the home. We offer comprehensive training, a 10% night/weekend shift premium, a free meal on each shift, DBS checks, and an employee-friendly benefits package.

Qualifications

• Experience in a domestic or cleaning role outside the home is required.
• Ideally some supervisory experience.
• Able to lead a team and coordinate shifts and tasks.

Responsibilities

• Manage the cleaning and laundry team day-to-day.
• Create and update cleaning and laundry schedules.
• Liaise with residents and families to understand preferences.
• Supervise external cleaners and monitor performance.
• Order and maintain stock of cleaning supplies and equipment.
• Audit equipment and organise repairs or replacements.
• Ensure laundry runs efficiently and meets standards.
• Complete risk assessments.
• Ensure full COSHH compliance.

As Head Housekeeper, you’ll help create a clean, safe, and welcoming environment where our residents truly feel at home. You’ll lead the housekeeping and laundry team, ensuring the highest standards are maintained across the home.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Managing the cleaning and laundry team day-to-day
• Creating and updating cleaning and laundry schedules
• Liaising with residents and families to understand preferences
• Supervising external cleaners and monitoring performance
• Ordering and maintaining stock of cleaning supplies and equipment
• Auditing equipment condition and organising repairs/replacements
• Ensuring laundry runs efficiently and meets required standards
• Completing risk assessments
• Ensuring full compliance with COSHH regulations

About you

We’re looking for someone with experience in a domestic or cleaning role outside the home, ideally with some supervisory experience.

You’ll also need to be:

• A confident and supportive team leader
• Organised, reliable, and proactive
• Kind, approachable, and respectful toward older people
• Comfortable building relationships with residents, relatives, and colleagues
