Overview

The Head Chef role at Avery Healthcare in Sheffield is a permanent position paying £14.40 per hour. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and leading a culinary team to provide high-quality, nutritionally balanced meals for residents. A relevant catering qualification and at least two years of experience managing a culinary team in the care or hospitality sectors are required.

Job responsibilities
  • Manage and lead a culinary team that provides nutritionally balanced, high-quality meals that contribute to residents’ well-being and are delivered within budget.
  • Prepare modified diets that look appealing and are well-balanced, in accordance with IDDSI guidance.
  • Place food orders with approved suppliers, maintain stock levels, control costs, and ensure provisions meet budget limits.
  • Supervise and direct kitchen staff and the Host team; instruct and demonstrate food preparation to unqualified staff where needed.
  • Practice safe systems of work and assess risks to ensure the personal safety of residents, visitors, and staff.

  • Two years experience managing a culinary team in the care or hospitality sectors.
  • Hold a relevant catering qualification (City & Guilds 706/1 and 706/2 or NVQ).
  • Demonstrate passion and commitment to delivering high-quality culinary standards to residents.
