Job summary

Springcare in Ilkeston is seeking a dedicated cook to join our kitchen team. You will organise, prepare and serve home cooked meals for residents, ensuring appetising dishes and consistent quality in a busy care home environment.

Reporting to the Home Manager, you will uphold food hygiene standards, work as part of a supportive team, and benefit from pension, training, and wellbeing supports along with flexible day contracts.

Qualifications

• Experience in the food industry and ability to work in a care setting desired.
• Ability to lead in a busy kitchen and maintain high standards.

Responsibilities

• Organise, prepare and serve appetising home-cooked meals for residents.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness and health and safety.
• Lead and support a kitchen team within a care home setting.
• Coordinate with Home Manager and care staff to ensure smooth service.

Duties and Responsibilities.

Reporting to the Home Manager the successful applicant will be an organised and helpful leader in a busy kitchen environment. You will be responsible for organising, preparing, and serving appetising and freshly produced food, whilst maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and health and safety.

Key to your success in this role will be your experience within the food industry, along with the ability to be part of a strong team in the kitchen. Experience in a care setting would be an advantage but not essential.

What are we looking for?

• Basic or Intermediate Food Hygiene certificate
• Knowledge of textured/modified diets would be an advantage

Successful applicants would require two written references, a standard/enhanced DBS (Disclosure Barring Service) (depending on role) and evidence of a right to work in the UK check.
