Job summary

The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in Birmingham is seeking a Staff Nurse in the High Dependency Unit (HDU), a six-bed unit caring for Level 2 patients. This role supports a 24/7 HDU service with shift patterns and a team approach to safe, compassionate care.

You will work autonomously under supervision, develop critical care competencies with the HDU practice facilitator, and contribute to service delivery and development for the ward.

Responsibilities

• Work at all times in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Standards of Practice and Behaviours, revalidation and relevant professional guidelines, independently/autonomously and at times without direct supervision
• Be accountable for own professional actions and those delegated to others
• Ensure accurate assessment of patient care needs, development of care plans, implementing and evaluating care
• Achieve and maintain competence in mandatory training and clinical skills relevant to HDU
• Respond to patients and carers concerns and take remedial action as required
• Take charge of the practice setting as required
• Supervise and delegate to staff and students as needed
• Contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient experience
