Job summary

Avara Foods is hiring a Hatchery Operative to support the hatchery team in daily duties that underpin our business. You’ll help move eggs from storage to incubators and then to hatchers, handling 10kg trays and ensuring biosecurity and welfare standards.

No prior experience required as full training is provided, with a Monday–Saturday 08:00–18:00 schedule on a six‑week rotation. We offer paid weekly wages, training from day one, and a secure contract with overtime opportunities.

Qualifications

  • A good level of English and basic numeracy skills.
  • Good teamwork and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and a flexible attitude to tasks.
  • Previous experience is desirable, but not essential as full training is provided.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in moving eggs from storage to incubating machines and then to hatching machines.
  • Move 10kg trays of eggs into egg trolleys.
  • Check eggs for issues.
  • Transfer eggs from incubating to hatching machines efficiently.
  • Clean all equipment after use to high standards.
  • Safeguard biosecurity and follow procedures.
  • Observe bird welfare and health and safety on site.

Working Hours

Monday-Saturday 08:00-18:00 on a 6 week rotation pattern

About The Role

As a Hatchery Operative, working as part of the Hatchery Team, you’ll help assist the hatchery and play a key role in the daily duties which are fundamental to our entire business.

  • Assisting in the effective movement of eggs from storage to incubating machines and then to hatching machine.
  • Moving 10kg trays of eggs into the egg trolleys.
  • Checking if there is anything wrong with the eggs.
  • Moving eggs from incubating machines to hatching machines effectively.
  • Cleaning all equipment after use to the required high standards
  • Safeguarding bio security and following these strict procedures
  • Observing bird welfare and health and safety on site at all times
