Job summary

Avara Foods Limited is seeking a Hatchery Operative to join the Hatchery Team. No experience is necessary as full training is provided, with an emphasis on careful handling of eggs, biosecurity and health and safety.

The role offers a fixed Monday-Saturday schedule, 08:00-18:00 on a 6 week rotation, with on-site parking and weekly pay. Overtime may be available and training starts from day one.

Qualifications

• A good level of English and basic numeracy skills.
• Good teamwork and communication skills.
• Attention to detail and a flexible attitude to tasks.
• Previous experience is desirable, but not essential as full training is provided.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the movement of eggs from storage to incubating machines and then to hatching machines.
• Move 10kg trays of eggs into the egg trolleys.
• Check eggs for any defects or issues.
• Move eggs from incubating machines to hatching machines.
• Clean all equipment to high standards after use.
• Safeguard biosecurity and follow procedures.
• Observe bird welfare and health and safety on site.

About the role

As a Hatchery Operative, working as part of the Hatchery Team, you’ll help assist the hatchery and play a key role in the daily duties which are fundamental to our entire business.

• Assisting in the effective movement of eggs from storage to incubating machines and then to hatching machine.
• Moving 10kg trays of eggs into the egg trolleys.
• Checking if there is anything wrong with the eggs.
• Moving eggs from incubating machines to hatching machines effectively.
• Cleaning all equipment after use to the required high standards
• Safeguarding bio security and following these strict procedures
• Observing bird welfare and health and safety on site at all times
