Job summary

Workforce Staffing Ltd in Sheffield requires an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join a busy engineering workshop. You will assemble machinery from drawings, fit mechanical components and ensure assemblies meet precise specifications.

The role is permanent, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday days. The position offers £18.00 per hour, with hands-on involvement in building standard and bespoke equipment for industrial customers.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as Mechanical Fitter or similar role.
• Experience assembling industrial machinery and plant equipment.
• Good knowledge of mechanical components, drives, bearings, gearboxes and hydraulics.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Competent using hand tools and workshop equipment.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and build new industrial machinery and equipment.
• Carry out mechanical fitting and assembly of machine components and sub-assemblies.
• Fit bearings, shafts, rollers, gearboxes, motors, hydraulic cylinders and drive systems.
• Assemble hydraulic systems, pipework and related components.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and assembly instructions.
• Use hand tools, power tools and workshop equipment to complete assembly work.
• Test and inspect completed machinery to ensure proper operation.
• Identify and resolve fitting or assembly issues during the build process.
• Maintain high workmanship, quality and health & safety standards.
