Job summary

Leonardo in the United Kingdom invites applications for an Industrial Placement Mechanical Engineer. You will contribute to mechanical design and development within an integrated project team, engaging with 3D CAD and analysis tools to deliver timely solutions.

During your placement, you’ll work on real-world projects from day one, spending on-site time to maximise learning, while developing professional skills in communication, problem solving and collaboration across systems, electrical,

Qualifications

• Be self-motivated, willing to take on new challenges and develop.
• Strong communication skills across multiple mediums.
• Ability to build effective working relationships with peers and stakeholders.
• Appreciate mechanical engineering design principles.
• Ability to solve problems and engage in concurrent engineering.
• Some knowledge of CAD and analysis tools.
• Customer-focused with an understanding of DFx and production processes.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to mechanical design and development.
• Work in an integrated project team, providing mechanical output and technical information.
• Support and facilitate reviews.
• Coordinate with systems, electrical, quality and production functions.
• Perform hands-on mechanical design using 3D CAD or analysis software.
• Deliver design solutions within budget and timescales.
• Create documentation per BS8888 and manage design documentation in the PDM system.
