Job summary

Brighton College is seeking a Porter on a full-time, permanent basis. You will join the Facilities team to keep the College looking its best, both inside and out, and help with room set-ups for teaching, events and external functions.

The role requires physical fitness, a positive, proactive approach, and a full UK driving licence. Hours are 40 per week across a two-shift rota (7.00am–7.00pm), with occasional weekend work paid as overtime. Salary is £28,080 per annum, plus benefits.

Qualifications

• Must be physically fit and able to perform consistent manual handling.
• Flexible and able to adapt to change and cooperate with others.
• Able to take direction with a proactive attitude and work well in a team.
• Able to use own initiative and work effectively unsupervised to complete tasks.
• Full, clean UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Set up rooms, buildings, and outdoor areas for teaching and events, including furniture, staging, and equipment.
• Distribute mail as required.
• Clean external areas according to schedule in all weather conditions.
• Dispose of damaged furniture and recycle waste per policy.
• Drive porterage van and perform maintenance checks.
• Report faults and maintain equipment and facilities.
• Support fire drills and assist with College operations as directed.
• Carry out other reasonable requests from management.
