Job summary

TeacherActive is recruiting a Teaching Assistant for a mainstream Primary School in Abergavenny, Wales. You will provide one-to-one support to a child with Autism/ASD, helping with learning, communication and daily classroom activities in the Early Years setting.

This role is mornings-only, part-time, with a long-term contract. Ideal candidates have experience in Early Years or Primary settings, experience with ALN/Autism, and a patient, supportive attitude.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children in an Early Years or Primary School setting.
• Experience working with children with Autism/ASD or ALN.
• Makaton experience is desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one support for a child with Autism/ASD to aid engagement with learning and activities.
• Assist with learning, communication and daily classroom routines in a supportive manner.
• Contribute to an inclusive environment and monitor progress during morning sessions.

The school is looking to take on a Teaching Assistant on a long-term, part-time basis, working mornings only within their Early Years provision. The successful Teaching Assistant will provide one-to-one support for a child with Autism / ASD, helping them engage with learning, communication and daily classroom activities.

The successful Teaching Assistant will have:

• Experience supporting children within an Early Years or Primary School setting
• Experience working with children with Autism / ASD or additional learning needs / ALN
• Makaton experience is desirable but not essential
• A patient and supportive approach
• A positive and adaptable attitude
