Job summary

Avara Foods Limited is seeking a Halal Slaughter Operative for our Brackley site. You will cull birds in accordance with Halal standards and then join the intake rotation for the rest of the shift in a noisy, refrigerated FMCG factory.

No prior qualifications are required as full training is provided to obtain the WATOK licence; basic food hygiene and manual handling training are desirable. Overtime and weekly pay are available.

Responsibilities

• Involves handling and slaughtering live poultry in line with Halal standards.
• Operate in a fast-paced FMCG factory environment with emphasis on hygiene.
• Follow instructions from Section Manager and manage CCP checks where required.
• Adhere to allergen controls, PPE, health and safety procedures, and food hygiene rules.
• Work on a 40-hour week with potential overtime and team rotation.

Job description

As Halal Slaughter Operative you'll be culling birds in line with Halal standards (you must fully understand the Islamic procedure and conditions for slaughtering animals). Once Halal slaughter has finished, to operate within the Intake rotation for the remainder of the shift. So you'll be working in a fast-paced, dynamic FMCG factory environment which is noisy and refrigerated in some areas, manufacturing short shelf life products where hygiene standards are critical.

• Involves the handling and slaughtering of live poultry.
• The type of work is of a repetitive nature.
• The role involves job rotation and consequently operators must be able to communicate with others and work as part of a team.
• A FMCG labour intensive factory environment which is noisy and refrigerated in some areas manufacturing short shelf-life products where hygiene standards are critical.
• To adhere to allergen controls.
• To wear correct PPE for the area you are working in.
• To be aware of, understand and adhere to health & safety procedures.
• To be aware of, understand and adhere to food hygiene procedures.
• To adhere to company policies and procedures.
• To follow instructions as directed by Section Manager or other members of the management team.
• Employees may be required to carry out critical control point (CCP) checks in accordance with A basic level of communication and numeracy is essential.
• You must fully understand the Islamic procedure and conditions for slaughtering animals.
• No qualifications are required; however, full training will be given to obtain WATOK licence (Welfare of animals at the time of killing).
• Previous experience in a similar role or working in the food manufacturing industry would be desirable.
• A basic Food Hygiene certificate and manual handling training would be desirable.
• A high degree of self-motivation and physical fitness are required.
• Working Hours: 40 hours per week 06:00 - 14:30, Monday - Friday.
• £17.15 per hour
