Job summary

Harrogate College is looking for a dedicated Hairdressing and Barbering Apprenticeship Assessor to join our Apprenticeships department. You will plan, coordinate, deliver, and assess theoretical and practical learning for a caseload of apprentices.

You will deliver training both on-site and off-site, establish ILPs with milestones, monitor progress with formal reviews every 12 weeks, and track vocational achievements using OneFile.

Qualifications

• Level 3 Hairdressing/Barbering qualification required.
• Assessor Award (e.g., CAVA, TAQA, A1) and Level 2 English & Maths desirable.
• Experience carrying out workplace assessments and managing learner portfolios.

Responsibilities

• Deliver & Teach: lead practical/theoretical training for hairdressing/barbering apprentices on-site and in salons.
• Assess & Track: monitor progress using OneFile, mark assessments, provide feedback, and audit paperwork.
• Plan & Review: create ILPs with milestones, conduct formal reviews every 12 weeks, ensure off-the-job training.
• Onboard & Collaborate: recruit, enroll and sign up apprentices; perform employer health & safety checks.
• Maintain Quality: participate in IQA, uphold safeguarding/PREVENT standards, drive learner retention and timely achievement targets.
