Job summary

Harrogate College is seeking a dedicated Hairdressing and Barbering Apprenticeship Assessor to join our Apprenticeships department. The role focuses on planning, coordinating, delivering, and assessing learning for a caseload of apprentices, with training delivered on-site and in workplace salons.

You will establish Individual Learning Plans, conduct formal progress reviews approximately every 12 weeks, monitor progress using OneFile, and support recruitment and onboarding of new apprentices.

Qualifications

• Must hold Level 3 Hairdressing/Barbering qualification.
• Assessor Award (CAVA/TAQA/A1) or equivalent is essential.
• Level 2 English & Maths requirements (IQA/teaching qualification desirable).

Responsibilities

• Deliver practical and theoretical training for hairdressing and barbering apprentices, on-site and in workplace salons.
• Assess and track apprentice progress using OneFile and complete assessment paperwork to audit standards.
• Plan and review Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) with milestones and conduct formal progress reviews at least every 12 weeks.
• Onboard and collaborate with recruitment to enrol new apprentices and engage with local salon employers.
• Maintain quality through IQA processes, safeguarding and PREVENT compliance, and support learner retention and timely achievement.
