Job summary

Harrogate College, part of the Luminate Education Group, seeks a dedicated Apprenticeship Assessor for Hairdressing and Barbering on a variable hours contract. You will plan, deliver and assess learning for a caseload of apprentices, both on-site and in workplace salons.

Reporting to the Deputy Head of Apprenticeships, you will create ILPs, monitor progress, conduct 12-week reviews, support recruitment and onboarding, and uphold safeguarding and quality standards while building strong employer

Qualifications

• Level 3 Hairdressing/Barbering qualification required.
• Assessor Award (e.g., CAVA, TAQA, A1) required or desirable.
• Level 2 English & Maths required; IQA or teaching qualification desirable.

Responsibilities

• Deliver & Teach: Lead practical and theoretical training sessions for hairdressing and barbering apprentices, on-site and in workplace salons.
• Assess & Track: Monitor learner progress using OneFile, mark assignments and ensure complete assessment documentation.
• Plan & Review: Create ILPs with milestones, conduct formal progress reviews with apprentices and employers at least every 12 weeks.
• Onboard & Collaborate: Recruit, enroll and onboard new apprentices; perform employer health and safety checks.
• Maintain Quality: Participate in IQA procedures and uphold safeguarding, PREVENT and high professional standards.
