Job summary

Harrogate College is seeking a dedicated Hairdressing and Barbering Apprenticeship Assessor to plan, deliver, and assess learning for a caseload of apprentices. The role covers on-site and in-workplace training, requiring collaboration with local employers and the recruitment team.

You will establish ILPs, monitor progress, conduct formal reviews every 12 weeks, and ensure high learner retention and timely completion. Flexible, variable hours are expected based on caseload.

Qualifications

• Level 3 Hairdressing/Barbering qualification (essential).
• Assessor Award (CAVA/TAQA/A1) required or equivalent.
• Level 2 English & Maths (required; IQA/teaching qualification desirable).
• Experience with workplace assessments and learner portfolios is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver practical and theoretical training for hairdressing and barbering apprentices, on-site and in workplace salons.
• Assess and track progress using OneFile, provide feedback, and ensure audit-ready assessment paperwork.
• Plan and review ILPs with milestones, conduct tripartite progress reviews every 12 weeks.
• Onboard, recruit, enroll and liaise with employers; maintain relationships with local salon partners.
• Support IQA activities, safeguard PREVENT, and drive learner retention and timely achievement.
