Job summary

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) invites applications for a Health Care Support Worker in the Gynaecology Pre-Assessment Service within Women’s and Children’s Services. The role is part-time, fixed-term for 6 months, based at The Royal Alexandra Hospital. Hours are Monday to Wednesday; salary is pro rata for part-time hours.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a healthcare or outpatient environment.
• Ability to work independently and use initiative.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience using electronic patient record systems.
• Ability to prioritise workload in a busy clinical environment.
• Experience working in a multidisciplinary team.
• Knowledge of patient confidentiality, data protection and safe working practices.
• Ability to use clinical equipment and undertake delegated clinical duties after training.

Responsibilities

• Support registered nursing staff in delivering high-quality patient care.
• Prepare patients for pre-assessment appointments and clinical procedures.
• Undertake and record patient observations accurately.
• Perform venepuncture and ECGs following completion of competency training.
• Collect and manage patient specimens in line with local procedures.
• Update electronic patient records and maintain accurate documentation.
• Maintain stock levels, equipment and clinical environments to support service delivery.
• Provide reassurance and support to patients attending the service.
• Work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure excellent patient care.
