Job summary

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde seeks a Health Care Support Worker for the Gynaecology Pre-Assessment Service within Women’s and Children’s Services. You'll work with experienced nursing staff to deliver safe, person-centred care and develop your skills in one of the UK's largest NHS organisations.

This is a part-time, fixed-term role for 6 months based at The Royal Alexandra Hospital, with hours Monday to Wednesday; salary is pro rata for part-time hours.

Qualifications

• Experience in healthcare or outpatient settings and a patient-centred approach.
• Ability to work independently and use initiative in a busy clinical environment.
• Experience using electronic patient record systems and clinical IT systems.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with good literacy and numeracy.
• Ability to prioritise workload and work well in a multidisciplinary team.
• Knowledge of patient confidentiality, data protection and safe working practices.
• Ability to operate clinical equipment and undertake delegated clinical duties after training.

Responsibilities

• Support registered nursing staff in delivering high-quality patient care.
• Prepare patients for pre-assessment appointments and clinical procedures.
• Undertake and record patient observations accurately.
• Perform venepuncture and ECGs following training.
• Collect and manage patient specimens per local procedures.
• Update electronic patient records and maintain documentation.
• Maintain stock levels, equipment and clinical environments to support service delivery.
• Provide reassurance and support to patients attending the service.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure excellent patient care.
