About The Role

We are seeking a Financial Controller to join Plum and play a pivotal role in overseeing and optimizing financial processes. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and contribute to the overall financial health and stability of the organization. This position requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of financial controls, and the ability to navigate the rapidly evolving fintech landscape. The Financial Controller will lead the Financial Control team and work closely with our CFO, FP&A team, and other departments.

Your Key Responsibilities

1. Ownership of the Group Financials: Responsible for the integrity of the numbers that drive the business forward, with opportunities to design a close process and reporting pack suitable for the next phase of growth.
2. Develop and maintain robust financial controls: Implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with standards and industry best practices.
3. Lead and develop the financial control team: Provide guidance, mentoring, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
4. Identify and mitigate financial risks: Propose and implement effective strategies.
5. Manage accounting systems: Streamline financial reporting and control processes.
6. Partner with business units: Address accounting implications for new products.
7. Oversee daily finance operations and treasury management: Leverage automation and technology to enhance efficiency.
8. Produce management packs and accounts: Manage monthly entity and consolidated reports.
9. Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors: Ensure timely audits and compliance.
10. Manage month-end close and group consolidation: Oversee these processes.
11. Handle tax responsibilities: Manage all tax returns and collaborate with external advisors.
12. Ensure regulatory compliance: Submit returns and collaborate on regulatory documents.
13. Foster internal communication: Collaborate within the finance team and with other departments.
14. Align financial control with business goals: Work with internal stakeholders.
15. Monitor regulatory changes: Adapt financial control frameworks proactively.

What We Look For

• Proven experience in financial control.
• Strong knowledge of internal controls, compliance, and financial regulations (GAAP and IFRS); qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CPA or equivalent).
• Excellent leadership and remote team management skills.
• High attention to detail, proactive, and self-motivated.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with various accounting systems and technology solutions.
• Comfort with ambiguity.
• Experience with regulatory returns is a plus.
• Previous experience in an EMI licensed organization or within financial services is highly desirable.
