Base pay range

Zachary Daniels is partnering with a leading European logistics group to appoint a new Group Financial Controller. Backed by a globally renowned private equity firm, the company is positioned for significant growth, with operations spanning the UK and Europe.

With a focus on delivering exceptional service and driving innovation, the group is entering an exciting phase of development. Recent investments support ambitious expansion plans, creating opportunities to grow its footprint in existing markets and explore new territories. This is a key role in the finance function of a fast-paced, high-growth organization.

This position offers high visibility across the organization. You will work closely with the Group Finance Director and CFO to oversee all aspects of financial reporting, compliance, and consolidation across multiple European entities.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Take ownership of the group finance function.
2. Lead the year-end close process and manage relationships with external auditors.
3. Deliver accurate and timely group-level reporting (monthly, quarterly, annually) under IFRS.
4. Oversee the preparation of consolidated financial statements across the group.
5. Ensure tax, legal, and financial regulatory compliance across jurisdictions.
6. Own and evolve internal controls and the group's risk and control matrix.
7. Develop and implement group accounting policies and control frameworks.
8. Support group restructures and lead all aspects of acquisition accounting.
9. Manage intercompany reconciliations and eliminations.
10. Lead, develop, and mentor the group reporting team.
11. Stay ahead of IFRS changes and manage implementations.
12. Promote best practices and continuous improvement across finance functions.
13. Travel to European offices as required (no more than once per month).

What We're Looking For:

• ACA, ACCA, CIMA qualified with significant post-qualified experience.
• Proven experience as a Financial Controller within a leveraged/PE-backed environment.
• Strong technical accounting expertise, especially regarding IFRS and consolidations.
• Effective leadership and collaboration skills, capable of working cross-functionally and internationally.
• Excellent communication skills — confident with senior stakeholders and external partners.
• Experience in manufacturing, FMCG, food, or supply chain industries is beneficial but not essential.
• A proactive mindset, high integrity, and a drive for excellence.
