Job summary

AECOM invites a Ground Engineering placement student to join the UK and Ireland team in Birmingham. You will contribute to ground investigations, data analysis, and design support while gaining hands-on experience across multidisciplinary projects.

As you progress, you will help prepare reports, models and tender documents under supervision. The role offers hybrid work, travel opportunities and learning across energy, transport and major infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering, Engineering Geology or Geology with a strong academic record.
• Willingness to travel to project sites and other AECOM offices.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Assist with Ground Investigation projects including desk studies, site inspections and surveys.
• Support data collection, management and interpretation of geological data.
• Help prepare interpretative reports, ground models and design documentation.
• Assist in design and assessment of foundations, earthworks and slope stability.
• Develop skills in 2D/3D numerical modelling using company software.
• Contribute to tender documentation and collaboration across teams.
• Maintain health and safety and sustainability considerations in work.
